North Plains Groundwater Conservation District's Education Programs
Honored by Groundwater Foundation

North Plains Groundwater Conservation District's Education & Public Relations Coordinator, Rhonda Artho, was selected to receive the 2006 Edith Stevens Groundwater Educator Award from the Groundwater Foundation.
In 1997, the Groundwater Foundation established an award to recognize groundwater educators who understand the importance of groundwater, motivate others to protect groundwater, and lead by personal example. Edith Stevens of Cresco, Pennsylvania, received the first award at the 1997 “Priming the Pump” water educators conference in Chicago, Illinois. Edith is one of Pennsylvania’s strongest citizen advocates for protecting and preserving groundwater. Edith’s outstanding work for groundwater education will stand as a touchstone of the award named in her honor.
The Groundwater Foundation was founded to educate and motivate people to care for and about groundwater.  It is a national non-profit involved in implementing programs to engage interest in, and inspire action on behalf of, groundwater protection and conservation initiatives, both locally and globally.  More information on the Groundwater Foundation can be obtained at www.groundwater.org.
