Education
North Plains Groundwater Conservation District is constantly striving to
educate the public about our precious groundwater resources and the importance
of protecting and conserving them. Educational programs are available for
any age group and can be tailored to your specific needs. Programs can
include fun hands-on activities for children of any age. Please contact

Resources Available through the NPGCD office:

1. Library of water conservation and water education videotapes available for
check-out to persons within the NPGCD. Ages preschool-adult. (See list of available
videos)

2. Li brary of free printed materials on groundwater, water conservation,
water quality and other water related topics.
3.
Free Xeriscaping/Water Wise Gardening materials. Contact the
NPGCD office for
a full packet. Free Water Wise Gardening Classes are also held each year.

4.
Educational
presentations and activities for all ages. Topics can include
water conservation, water-wise gardening, weather modification, etc.
5.
"Major Rivers" curriculum available free to all 4th grade teachers in the North
Plains Groundwater Conservation District. Other fun water activities and
units available for all ages by contacting
NPGCD.
6.
Educational programs and community service activities with scouts.
Girl scouts can earn the "Water Wonders" badge, "Water
Drop" patch, "Water
Everywhere" Brownie Try-It, "Girls Get With The Land" badge,
"Using Resources Wisely" Daisy Scout patch
and the "Folk Art" Badge.
7. Water History Trunk - available for loan to teachers or brought to you
with
an educational presentation by NPGCD personnel. Children will learn
about the history of water use in the panhandle, and will have fun trying to
identify historical objects related to water as they learn. Contact
